Step 1 – Apply the shortcut Windows+E to open the Windows Explorer, paste C:\Windows\Panther in the address bar. Blue colored folder pandas will appear in front of you. But if you have deleted the pandas or if you don’t have, then it will be difficult to go back if any restored points are there.
Step 2 – Search for the Compat*.xml file in the Panther folder and open it with any editor.

Step 4 – Press the shortcut “Ctrl+R” to open Command Prompt, type appwiz.cpl, and click on OK.
Step 5 – Look for the incompatible apps that we have noted in the program window and uninstall it.

Method 2: Resetting the Components of Windows Updates
Step 1 – Click on the command prompt after pressing the start button, typing CMD, and then opening as an administrator.
Step 2 – Type the following commands in the command prompt to stop the following Windows Update related services:
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
net stop appidsvc
net stop cryptsvc
Step 3 – Now, Rename all the software distribution backup copies. The commands of it are shown below:
ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
Step 4 – After that, restart the services which were stopped early in step 2 using the below commands:
net start bits
net start wuauserv
net start appidsvc
net start cryptsvc
Step 5 – Reboot your PC and check if windows software is updated.
Method 3: Updating Software or Application
Just check if you have installed the updates from the website directly or from the Microsoft Store and follow the steps below:
Step 1: Since many of the applications have an inbuilt option for checking about updates, therefore, look for it.
Step2. You can go and check on the software website for the availability of the new version.
If you have installed from Microsoft Store, then follow the below steps.
Step 1 – Tap on the three dots in the top right corner.
Step 2 – Click on the Updates.
Step 3 – Check for the new updates, if available, download it.
At last, if none of those mentioned above methods work, then, you can delete the file that is blocking the update.
