From infancy up to the age of five, any kid living in the state can enrol. According to First Lady of Delaware Tracey Quillen Carney, some Delaware children are registered as soon as they are born. She thanked the hospitals in Delaware that are registering children for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library before they go home.
In Delaware alone, over 21,000 kids are a part of it. A crowd gathered at the Wilmington library to hear Parton and the Carneys discuss their show. They also heard two of Parton’s songs, including “Try,” a tune inspired by her all-time favourite children’s book, “The Little Engine That Could.”

The phrase “you can accomplish anything you want” was one she had internalised early on in her life. That you can do anything you set your mind to is a central tenet. This is the first book in the Imagination Library, and I think it’s a very significant one for sure, since I felt I could, and I am a tiny engine that did.
