Disney is aware of fans’ longing to return to the universe of the original films, therefore production on Descendants 4 has already begun. Nonetheless, we’ll be in the company of a few new faces this time around.

Will There be a Descendants 4
After the High School Musical trilogy closed, Disney had a hard time recreating that same level of teen musical charm until the release of Descendants. The first Descendants movie premiered on Disney Channel in 2015.
This film, titled Descendants, looked at the offspring of well-known figures, particularly the villains from some of Disney’s most well-known stories.
Dove Cameron’s Mal, the daughter of Maleficent and Hades, was the film’s main character.
We got to watch her, as well as Cameron Boyce’s Carlos (Cruella De Vil’s son), Sofia Carson’s Evie (Evil Queen’s daughter), and Booboo Stewart’s Jay (Jafar’s son), as they rebel against their evil parents’ influence and learn to love and accept the good in the world.
Short films, cartoons, books, toys, and other products spawned from the successful film franchise. Fans had been hoping for a fourth film for quite some time, but production on it was put on hold after Cameron Boyce’s untimely death.
The news of two new Disney movies in production was announced in September of that year. Currently, we have official narrative and character details for one of those future Disney flicks.
Descendants 4: All New Characters?
According to a Disney+ press release, the fourth film will be called Descendants: The Pocketwatch.
New characters Red, daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, daughter of Cinderella, will work together to use the White Rabbit’s enchanted pocketwatch to go back in time and prevent a disastrous catastrophe from happening in Auradon, a world heavily influenced by Alice in Wonderland.
Jennifer Phang (The Flight Attendant, Foundation), who also serves as co-EP, will take up the franchise as director from Kenny Ortega (Hocus Pocus). Read below for a remark from Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television:
Descendants 4: Expectations
Filming on Descendants 4 will presumably get underway this fall, with a release date set for sometime in 2023.
While no casting news has been shared as of yet, fans can anticipate to see some returning faces since the tale will build upon the established world and characters.
Seven original songs were written for the film, and they will be joined by numerous familiar Disney classics.
Last Words
