AppleCare is a popular extended warranty service offered by Apple that provides additional coverage for its devices. However, there may come a time when you wish to cancel your AppleCare plan.
In this guide, we’ll cover how to cancel AppleCare, whether you’ve purchased it through Best Buy, need to cancel after a repair, or want to cancel an AppleCare subscription.
We’ll also touch on AppleCare customer service and whether AppleCare is a monthly service.
How to Cancel AppleCare
You can cancel your AppleCare plan in several ways:
- Via Phone: Call Apple Support directly and ask to cancel your AppleCare plan.
- Online: Go to mysupport.apple.com. Sign in, choose your device, and select or cancel your AppleCare plan.
- Via Mail or Fax: Send a written request to Apple to cancel your plan, including your plan agreement number, serial number of the device it covers, and your contact information.
When cancelling, you’ll receive a prorated refund based on the percentage of unexpired AppleCare coverage, less the value of any service already provided.
How to Cancel AppleCare through Best Buy
If you purchased your AppleCare plan through Best Buy, you would need to contact them directly to cancel your plan. You can do this in-store, over the phone, or possibly through the Best Buy website, depending on their current policies.
Cancel AppleCare After a Repair
Having a repair done on your device does not automatically cancel your AppleCare plan. However, if you’ve used some or all of the benefits of your plan, it might affect the amount you’re refunded when you cancel. You can still cancel your AppleCare plan after a repair by following the steps outlined above.
As of my last update in September 2021, Apple does offer some of its AppleCare plans as subscriptions. This means you can pay a monthly fee for your coverage instead of paying an upfront price for a set number of years. The process for cancelling an AppleCare subscription is the same as cancelling a regular plan.
AppleCare Customer Service
AppleCare customer service is available to help with any issues, including cancellations. You can contact them over the phone, via chat on the Apple website, or by making an appointment at an Apple Store.
Is AppleCare Monthly?
Apple offers both upfront and monthly options for AppleCare. The upfront option covers you for a set number of years, while the monthly subscription option continues until you decide to cancel.
Cancelling your AppleCare plan is a straightforward process that you can complete over the phone, online, or by mail.
Remember, if you’ve purchased your AppleCare plan through a third party like Best Buy, you’ll need to contact them directly for cancellations.
